When me and Madeline try to keep up our workouts, the boys played for the rugby team of Te Anau. As most people know, New Zealand is a country that lives for their rugby, and so has Max his entire life. It's what keeps him alive. So he was really happy to be part of a team again! Jake on the other hand, has always played sports but never played any rugby. As Max said: "The first game of rugby he watched, he ended up playing in." But also Jake seemed to enjoy it. Twice a week training and a game on Saturday. As proud as the boys were, they invited me and Maddie to come and watch them during the home games. We both brought our camera, experimented with taking pictures and encouraged the boys in their new hobby. It was a nice atmosphere, but the only think I could think of was how (as we would say in dutch back at home) I became a real "voetbalvrouw". Because you can turn and twist it however you want, me and sports just do not fit together.
Although, I am missing and craving for something. Like the boys have their rugby, I have my photography. But my body doesn't feel satisfied. I need something to express my energy in. Being here and thinking about my future and my studies, I realised I need something to do as well. Dancing has always been my thing, but I had to stop because of school. It's only here and now that I realise how much I miss it. The way I express myself, and how relieved my body feels after a dance class. So that's something to look into next year. I want to find something I can look forward to during the week, a little bit of 'me time' and if it's not going to be dancing, I would love to see if kickboxing, yoga, fitness or anything else is going to be for me. We'll find out!
