I

In Kaikoura one of the things I was focusing on was my ‘still to do before I leave’ list. It may be a surprise to some of you, but one of the things that was on there is ‘getting a tattoo.’ I’ve waited a long time to get one. Just because it had to be the perfect thing to put on my body. Being here in New Zealand, discovering parts about myself that I hadn’t discovered yet, gave me the urge to express my discoveries on my body. I know it sounds a little weird, but it feels perfect. After a long time I found a tattoo artist based in Christchurch with a drawing style that linked with mine. I sent him an e-mail and everything was set up. All I had to do was get to Christchurch. While packing my bags I found this little note back. It was a phone number of an elderly kiwi couple I met a while ago. We had a long beautiful conversation and made a real connection. They lived in Christchurch and told me I was always welcome to stay at their home whenever I was around. Ofcourse I was a little bit nervous when I called them. Because you are basically asking “Hey do you still remember me? I met you guys a month ago and would like to stay at your place for a couple of days” But Bonny picked up the phone and was extremely happy to hear from me. I was more than welcome and even got picked up in the city center. They were so loving and gave me my own cozy room to live in for a couple of days. I helped them grocery shop, cook and enjoyed their company. If I have to be completely honest, they did feel like my second parents. In the mean while, me and Madeline were chatting a lot. Max my boyfriend and Jake her boyfriend both work together in Te Anau, on the other side of New Zealand. I made it to Christchurch but she was still in Wellington. We were planning to meet up and then surprise the boys by not letting them know we were coming. Madeline decided to fly into Christchurch as soon as possible and would be able to join me to my tattoo appointment. I mentioned Madeline’s existence to David and Bonny before and without me asking they said that a second guest would make the house even more alive! So the next day me and David went to the airport to pick up Madeline. We cooked for them and had a wonderful time. In the meanwhile we were planning on how to surprise the boys. Andy from Kaikoura had fixed me up with a truck driver to bring me and Madeline straight from Christchurch to Te Anau. It would be a whole day of travelling but it saved us a lot of money. It was hard to say goodbye to David and Bonny who were so kind and loving to us, but we had an amazing last evening together. Mom and Dad part 2
