Milford my man

One of the reasons why people come to Te Anau is to get a coffee before going to Milford Sound. (Milford Sound is a fiord in the southwest of New Zealand’s South Island. It’s known for towering Mitre Peak, plus rainforests and waterfalls like Stirling and Bowen falls, which plummet down its sheer sides. The fiord is home to fur seal colonies, penguins and dolphins) It’s one of the most well know and touristic things to see in the Country. People wake up really early to get on the bus, drive for hours to then reach Milford and get on a cruise around the beautiful fiords. It’s something you must see while you’re here. Unfortunately as everything in life, it costs a lot of money. Unless you have a boyfriend who works in the café where all the buses stop to get their coffee… Because then, ladies and gentleman, you get to go for free J I was so excited! We woke up really early, I packed my camera and off we went. The bus driver was amazing, full of life and full of jokes! They called him ‘The Cowboy’ because he always wore his beloved hat. Even the drive to Milford was stunning because it went through the National park. There was only one road made by humans, the rest of the land was untouched. We made it to the harbor and I had to tell myself it was alright to be a tourist for one day. Personally I hate touristy spots and tourists itself… and knowing that I’m participating in that kind of travelling makes me want to vomit sometimes. But I switched off my mind and just looked at the beautiful nature. The cruise was around 2,5 hours and it contained free fish & chips. Everything was perfect; the weather was good, the cruise boat wasn’t too big, I had a nice one on one time with my boy and the place we were in was the most beautiful I’d ever seen. We were really lucky that day because we got to see dolphins and that doesn’t happen all the time. Everything is so untouched and that makes me feel so alive inside. I took some good pictures and of course took some for the Asian couples. Being in Milford, surrounded by the enormous mountains, makes me realize how small we are as humans… how less power we have than we think. It makes me realize how powerful nature is and how we got so disconnected from it. It makes me realize that the realization I just made, is something a lot of us haven’t and never will. The way these enormous waterfall crash down in the see, and how Milord ends up in the ocean and just runs all its way to Australia. Or just being on a boat again, it made every cell in my body be relaxed and reminded me to enjoy every minute of my existence.
