Being in Rotorua for a long time was really nice, but sometimes too much. I got stuck with my own overthinking and needed to get out. I've always wanted to do a WWOOFing job, which means living with a family and work for a couple of days. You get free food and free accommodation instead. This was my first experience and it was lovely! The GreeNZ family welcomed me into their house and their lives, I felt Honoured! I must say, after living in an 8-dorm hostel room for a couple of weeks, an own little house in the garden with a double bed was luxury! It finally gave me some time on my own.
Jizzy and Mike are lovely people with a beautiful heart. They have their own garden and grown most of their own food. My job was to get up at 8.30 and work in their garden until 12.30. I did some weeding, watering the plans, pealing beens, picking strawberries. I never expected to like working in the garden, but it was peaceful and it cleared my head, which I really needed. Also their healthy cooking really inspired me to have a different eating pattern. Being a backpacker and trying to live without spending a lot of money doesn't make it easy to cook healthy... but after meeting Jizzy and Mike, my mindset changed. Although I despite Broccoli, I will buy it and I will cook it in the future! Being away from the big city and being locked in my own cabin, I got a lot of time to think about the small things in life. I could read some books, write down what's been going on and get my own natural ritme back. L O V E L Y. One of the favourite parts of my day was the morning. Jizzy would ask me after breakfast: "would you like to save some turtles?' At first I didn't know what to say... How am I supposed to do that? But then it became clear. We would both hold a bag, got on the streets and walk for an hour... just picking up al the plastic! That's how you save turtles, looking out for the environment! The last day, Jizzy came to me and said :"I've got a special task for you to do, here are some stickers, you can decorate our mailbox!" I felt honoured, and made a little piece of art, a piece of me that they will be reminded on everyday!
